Who We Are

Our Mission: To benefit the public at large by providing events/music. The Trails End Festival is an annual festival held in Millinocket, ME, celebrating the end of the Appalachian Trail, Katahdin region, and outdoor recreation community.

Board of Directors

Cody McEwen / President

There’s nothing Cody likes better than romping around the Maine woods, and enjoying what nature has to offer up here in the Katahdin region.  As a Registered Maine Recreational Guide, Lifeguard Instructor, and Wilderness First Responder, he spends as much time as he can enjoying the abundance of trails, mountains, and waterways we have just outside our backdoor.

He lives in Millinocket year round, and also works in Mt. Chase as a lodge hand, meeting folks from all over the world that come to enjoy these sacred lands.

The Trails End Festival has deep roots in the community and he’s honored to lead alongside a great board of individuals; to bring you a free annual music festival that puts the magic back in Millinocket.

Amber Wheaton / Vice President

David Wheaton / Board Member

Hailing from the picturesque town of Millinocket, Amber and David, accompanied by their young adventurer Parker, are actively cultivating strong community bonds. Their family outings “upta camp” encompass a mix of activities including swimming, hiking, and discovering hidden treasures along the Golden Road.

In her capacity as Community Initiatives Director in Millinocket, Amber brings her distinctive charm to uplift the community. Additionally, she excels as an enthusiastic cheerleading coach at a local middle school and volunteers for the Tri-Town recreation department, where she leads the youth cheerleading program.

Conversely, David manages the seafood department at Hannaford with precision, all the while attending to his family’s cherished establishment – 5 Lakes Lodge, a charming bed and breakfast. Together, they constitute a dynamic duo in the community, dedicated to radiating positivity in their endeavors.

Diana Lakeman / Treasurer

Diana is a dog mom of two Shih tzus, and loyal wife of a Police Lieutenant – whom she loves equally and more than life itself – is eager to bring her passion for people and nature to this board!

She thrives under pressure, and is a strong believer in ethics, the safety of animals, and loyalty to others.  Aside from her responsibilities here at the Trails End Festival, she spends a majority of her time serving the community of Millinocket as Town Clerk/Registrar of Voters.

Diana enjoys adventuring, however finds contentment in solitude to reset her mind and body when needed.  She unwinds by riding motorcycles, ATV/dirt bikes, snowmobiles, and of course a paddle with the pups alongside. She mostly finds peace while walking the dogs, sitting at camp staring at Mt. Katahdin with her feet in the water, or simply doing dishes to have a tidy kitchen.

Thomas Malcolm / Health and Safety Officer

A revered figure in Millinocket, Tom has made a significant impact through his dedicated service to the community. Following his retirement, he proudly reflects on his extensive career spanning almost five decades as a firefighter, culminating in his esteemed role as Fire Chief. Tom’s unwavering commitment to volunteering, including his pivotal role in establishing the renowned Trails End Festival, exemplifies his dedication as a local hero.

In his leisure time, he treasures moments spent with his wife and trio of lively grandchildren.

Retirement did not mark the end of his contributions. He serves as the esteemed Public Health and Safety Officer for the Town, alongside his loyal companion Boots, a four-legged hero, rescued on duty some time ago.
